I currently work on functional linear models with Dr. Runze Li and Dr. Damla Senturk. My dissertation is on longitudinal and functional data analysis, and, in particular, the functional linear model. We proposed a variant of functional linear models, where the predictor process only in a sliding window into the recent past has an effect on the response process at a fixed time. We also proposed an estimation procedure for the proposed model specifically geared toward sparse longitudinal data, where the observations are irregular and the total number of measurements per sub ject is small. We apply the proposed model to biomedical data investigating dynamic relationships.
