Research Interests

My research is focused on understanding the best practices for efficiently taking evidence-based prevention programs to scale. In particular, I am concerned with the application of innovative methodologies in the study of program dissemination, implementation and sustainability. Currently, I have two specific areas of study: The first is the study of dynamic initiatives for dissemination of EBP’s known as prevention systems. The second is the broader study of diffusion efficiency (e.g., knowledge transfer, recruitment, dosage).

Current Projects and Collaborators

I am part of the PROSPER Project (RO1 #DA 013709), which is a collaboration of university researchers, the Cooperative Extension system, as well as community leaders and schools (Mark Greenberg and Dick Spoth). The project seeks to cultivate community partnerships, strengthen families, as well as prevent substance abuse and behavioral problems. We are exploring many issues related to the adoption, faithful replication and sustained delivery of evidence-based programs within the PROSPER model. My main role on the project includes conducting economic analyses focused on assessing the projects' systemic efficiency (Damon Jones) as well exploratory work on analytic approaches for evaluating dosage within dissemination trials (Donna Coffman). Recently, I have begun studying local prevention teams/coalitions through application of methodologies commonly utilized in engineering (Linda Collins).
